Nitrogen is commonly used in laboratories for different applications. Some demand higher purities, like research and gas chromatography, others are less purity-dependent. Such applications are typically nebulizing gas for liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC/MS) or evaporative light-scattering detectors (ELSD). These are typically used for polymer identification/determination, protein and peptide analysis/identification and in pharmaceutical research and development. Other areas of application are specific solvent evaporations and low-purity purge gas requirements.
An advantage is that there are no need to store large amounts of compressed gas since there is instant access to newly produced gas. Gas generators are small and creates a flexibility in the set up of the laboratory, and simplifies rearrangements of the lab. Due to their small size, laboratory space can be saved.
Nitrogen - SIROCCO DS-PSA nitrogen series.
SIROCCO DS-PSA nitrogen gas generators use a patented DUAL STEP pressure swing adsorption (DS-PSA) system, and delivers up to 5 l/min (5 bar) of pure nitrogen gas. Pressure swing adsorption is well known and the DUAL STEP system is a new innovation which is a much more economical and much more efficient technique compared with the traditional standard PSA technique. The DS-PSA system remove oxygen, carbon dioxide and water from compressed air. The resulting stream of high purity nitrogen gas (99.999%) is ideal for laboratory applications including GC carrier gas, make-up gas, and many other applications like ICP etc. Version DS-PSA-N2-3A also produces a 3 l/min flow at a pressure of 5 bar (73 psi) of clean air for other use. The compressed air system includes a filtration and drying system and is completely separated from the N2 part of the generator.
Nitrogen - BORA nitrogen mini series.
The nitrogen BORA mini gas generators includes an integral oil-free air compressor as standard. The generators deliver a continuous stream up to 1.3 l/min (4 bar) of pure nitrogen gas (>99.995%) with a low residual oxygen content without the need for secondary purification. The gas generators use the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system, as used in thousands of systems worldwide to remove oxygen, carbon dioxide and water from compressed air. The resulting stream of high purity nitrogen gas is ideal for applications including GC carrier, make-up gas, generally for all low flow applications. The BORA series of nitrogen gas generators is incredibly miniaturized and very silent, ideal to be placed in a little space like under or on a bench. The BORA series is the smallest sized high purity nitrogen generator worldwide.
Nitrogen - ELSD nitrogen generator without compressor.
The Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) mini nitrogen gas generator deliver a continuous stream of up to 4 l/min (5 bar) pure nitrogen gas (>98%) with a low residual oxygen content without the need for secondary purification. The ELSD mini nitrogen gas generator is ideal as source for inert gas and purge gas including ELSD systems.
The ELSD nitrogen gas generators use the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system, as used in thousands of systems worldwide to remove oxygen, carbon dioxide and water from compressed air. The ELSD nitrogen gas generators is incredibly miniaturized and very silent, ideal to be placed in a little space like under or on a bench.
Nitrogen - Nitrogen LC/MS Plus series.
The nitrogen LC/MS Plus gas generator works with PSA technique. Including integral oil-free air compressors as standard, the generator deliver a continuous stream of 99%+ pure nitrogen gas with a residual oxygen content of less than 1% at a flow rate of up to 35 liters per minute. The nitrogen LC/MS Plus gas generator is ideal for laboratory applications like all LC/MS techniques and other inert gas demanded applications.
The LC/MS Plus gas generators use a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system that removes oxygen, carbon dioxide and water from compressed air. The standard PSA technology is combined with a dual step pressure management. This allows to get high flow, high purity and high pressure all together in a very economical way without stressing the components.
Nitrogen - The nitrogen LC/MS 0 without compressor series.
The HiQ® LC/MS 0 laboratory nitrogen generator is designed to deliver larger capacity flow rates required for LC/MS instrument operation. The generator is intended for use where compressed air is available from an external source. No electrical installation is required. The system is built around an integral membrane system and can deliver flow rates from 0 to 60 Nl/min with purities ranging from 98% to 99% (the higher flow, the lower purity and vice versa). The feed pressure must be within the range of 7–10 bar (100 – 155 psi). For achieving best results the ambient air pressure should be ~1013 mbar and the air feed temperature between 20–25 °C. The generator is delivered in a wall mounting cabinet.
